Zidoo X9 Media Player First Day Impressions
Solid looking Alloy cased unit, something a little different to the usual Android media players.
Front segment digital display, Boot, Hello then Time.
Powered unit, supplied with 12v 2amp Power Supply, HDMI Cable and Remote control.
A different colourful navigation system that can be customised to suit your favorite apps.
I set up Wi-Fi 5g speed good, then all local settings accounts, first thing the ZIDOO X9 wanted was an update, either OTA or download from their website http://www.zidoo.tv/, I went with OTA, 425mb file downloading as I type no issues, downloaded and installed with ease. Update went smooth, and then another update.
ZIDOO X9 now running V184.108.40.206 latest, again no problems encounted with the second update.
Netflix, 1750kpbs 720 x 480 watchable as all other media boxes in this field.
KODI 14 customised for the zidoo x9 streamed a few biggies with no skips/drops, more testing to be done in this area with other forms of media and plugins, looking good at the moment.
A few more hours of installing apps, Plex working very well with movies.
Using remote or my Logitech k400r navigating around all good fun and different.
Found the unit performed well with all apps installed that I use.
Antutu 5.6.1: Score 18450. Antutu Video Test Score: 698. WIFI and ether speeds ok.
ZIDOO X9 is warm to touch, on inspection it has a sizable Heat Sink on main CPU that is resting against the inside of box to assist in heat dissipation appears be doing the job.
ZIDOO X9 has that point of difference that is fairly easy to use.
Presentation of the unit is clean and of good design. Navigation system makes it a true media player more than just an Android box, others may not like the navigation layout and may desire the more basic android feel.
The ZIDOO X9 also has the HDMI in feature, very handy indeed.
First day impression after a few more hours
Usable navigation, Performs and presented well with good look .
Manufacturer support straight out of the box.
